Florence is reducing the need for Community Matron's and GP's visits to Nursing Homes

Date posted: 01 Sep 2014

Florence was introduced at a Nursing Home in Rushcliffe with the aim of reducing visits made by the Community Matron and the GP.

Patients, their families and their carers were introduced to Florence and many of these expressed their desire to start sending their readings in.

Florence went live in September 2013 and the review in December showed very positive results.  There was a noticeable reduction in visits from the Community Matron and the GP, which meant that the aim was met.

The aim was achieved by monitoring patient’s blood pressure regularly. Help was only called in if abnormal readings were detected. Florence identified residents that needed additional care, one of which had very high blood pressure. Problems with these patients may not have been found otherwise.

Florence reassures the Nursing Home staff that they’re doing a good job and offering quality care.

Rather than calling a GP, the staff are able to assess the individual using Florence.

The Nursing Home in Rushcliffe have since requested that they are able to send in the temperatures of unwell residents to Florence to see whether they need the Community Matron to visit.
